Steve English MCIAT

Steve was educated at Wolstanton County Grammar School before starting his career with Michelin’s UK project design office until he branched out into private practice in 1983 joining Newcastle under Lyme based practice Eaton Manning Wilson + Associates where he was quickly promoted to an Associate and then a Partner in 1990. During this time he gained experience in a wide range of sectors and particularly in residential, commercial and further/higher education work and studied for the RIBA part 1 (RIBA External Examination).

In 2002 Steve joined Wood Goldstraw Yorath as one of 4 equity Partners before becoming a Senior Partner, and now a Director, heading one of the architectural teams. Steve and his team work nationally and undertake all types of architectural projects but specifically deal with most of the Practices’ residential projects whether these are new-build or conversion, bespoke private residential schemes, RSL or developer-led developments and Health Sector work Of his 40 years private practice experience 33 years have been at Partner level during which time he has amassed a great deal of experience in all aspects of professional architectural practice. His approach to his work is very much design-led, heavily influenced by innovation and ‘design from first principles’, and includes passive energy efficiency as an inherent fundamental design feature wherever possible. He is a Chartered Architectural Technologist and long standing full member of C.I.A.T.(Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists) and an incorporated member of C.I.O.B. (Chartered Institute of Building.)
