David Cooper MCIAT

David began his career in architecture as a school leaver at the age of 16, accepting a position as a Trainee Architectural Technologist at Eaton Manning Wilson and Associates in the summer of 2002 on an advanced modern apprenticeship scheme, joining Wood Goldstraw Yorath later that year. He studied part time at Stoke-On-Trent College and Staffordshire University taking a short break before studying at the University of Derby, graduating with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Architectural Technology and Digital Innovation in 2010. David progressed through the ranks at Wood Goldstraw Yorath, promoted to the position of Associate in 2015, and then to his current position as Director in January 2025.

David is passionate about innovation, good design and thrives on building strong working relationships for the benefit of the client and their projects. He has in excess of 23 years’ experience in private practice across many sectors including domestic, residential, education, conservation, commercial and perhaps most prominently, healthcare, a sector which has become somewhat of a specialism. David’s experience spans all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work, including development of the brief, feasibility studies, design and planning, technical design, tendering, procurement and site / contract management through to completion and handover. David is a full Chartered Member of CIAT and is also a CIAT registered Principal Designer (Building Safety Act).

David’s qualifications include;
